A sub-adult female grizzly bear in the Khutzeymateen looks up from chewing on sedge in the rain to check for any dangers, giving those of us watching in a nearby zodiac a beautiful side on profile shot of her. She was certainly a confident and feisty young bear, when I first saw her in 2012 she was playing chase with a young male from in a willow patch. Hopefully she’ll be around again later this spring when I visit the Khutzeymateen once again. More images from the Khutzeymateen grizzly bear sanctuary can be seen in the Khutzeymateen Gallery.
