The River Otter (Lontra canadensis), or Northern River Otter to give it its full title is common throughout British Columbia and particularly along the BC coast and it’s many waterways.  I was heading back to camp just before sunset one evening when I heard a lot of commotion, squealing and barking. I forced my way through the bushes to the nearby lakeshore, and there I found this guy and a troupe of three or four other otters harassing a beaver, standing on top of it’s lodge ‘shouting’ at it.  I’m not too sure what it was all about, but they sure were making a heck of a noise!
