Here’s an early May shot from the Khutzeymateen of a young adult male grizzly bear enjoying breakfast whilst he can. He is however, as you can see, keeping a good ‘safety first’ eye out at the same time, just in case! I say young, but I would estimate he’s about 11 or 12 years old – old enough to push his weight around with the younger bears and try his luck with the ladies, but not quite old enough, nor big enough yet, to slug it out with the much older and bigger guys, those who tend to dominate once the females start to go into season.
