Mussel Bay

This is Mussel Bay at the mouth of the Mussel River situated at the head of Mussel Inlet, on the central coast of British Columbia. This inlet, along with Kynoch Inlet and the surrounding lands are part of the Fiordlands Conservancy an area that is co-managed by BC Parks and the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation in whose traditional territory the park is located. From a nature viewpoint the whole BC coast is pretty spectacular, but this is one of the most ‘standout’ areas that I’ve been fortunate to visit on a few occasions. Forged by the last ice age which left behind high mountains rising over 1,000 metres that now surround deep lush valleys, which have become prime natural habitat and home for many species of wildlife, trees and plants.
