One of the most heart wrenching encounters with grizzly bears is when you come across young cubs that have recently been weaned by their moms. They always look so fed-up, lost and forlorn, as if they’re really missing their mum and often we see them just sitting around like this youngster is doing, as if he’s just waiting for mum to come back for him. This little guy had been weaned by Big Momma probably about five or six weeks before this shot was taken last spring.
