Shoulder Deep in Sedge

Early in 2024 I published a post called ‘Portrait of a Prince’ which featured this guy and told in part the story of the markings on his head. Here we see him again still standing shoulder deep in lush green Lyngby’s sedge as the tide is coming in around him. We’ve seen it before with bears pushing the tide to the limits (see Eating in the Bath), hoping to make the most of the sedge before it loses it’s nutritional value, which probably would have been around two or three weeks after this shot. By that time, in early July, the bears will have started to move on to berries whilst waiting for their main course – the first of the salmon, which will start to show up a week or two later.
