Tricoloured Bear

Whilst on my road trip through parts of northern BC back in June I briefly spotted this female black bear making her way through some wild rose bushes and as can be seen she’s pretty excited and has her eyes firmly fixed on some of the first early blooms of twinberry in the area. She had a couple of tiny cubs with her, but they paid little attention to the berries and disappeared through the bushes before I could catch them (with my camera!), but mum stopped for a quick mouthful of the black fruit before following her cubs. But what I wanted to show you was the unique colouration on this bear – the brown or cinnamon colours of her shoulder, nape and rump but the more traditional black on her legs, throat and head along with the blond around mouth. Really nice colours on such a pretty bear!
