Today’s Friday Flashback is from 28th August 2017 and is entitled ‘Yoga Bear‘. Not only is this female grizzly bear, known as Star, a long time favourite because I was able to watch her grow up, but this is also one of my favourite shots of her – an 18×24 canvas print hangs above my desk, watching over me whilst I’m working!
Original Text: “This is a favourite bear and one I have photographed many times over the last six years, one affectionately known as ‘Star’. Here, looking totally relaxed, she sits in a pose reminiscent of a yoga class, whilst resting atop a large rock in the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary on the BC coast. Bears resting in the open like this will often climb on to a large rock or boulder or on to a fallen log to take their afternoon siesta. From this elevated platform they can feel a little safer as they will have a better chance of seeing anything that may be approaching.“
