Here’s a follow-up and gentle reminder to the November 2019 post ‘Maui Visitors’. Here we see a mother humpback whale and her calf breaching together. It’s probably nothing of the sort, but we and our guide at the time liked to think that perhaps it was one of the young calf’s first breaching lessons from it’s mom and it seemed to be doing very well. As mentioned previously, November to late March are great times for visiting Maui if you love seeing humpbacks – this sort of activity is regularly seen here if you can get out on the water. (Apologies for the humanoid elements in the background, but heh, I have seen many ‘postcards’ featuring tourist accommodation!) Many more in the Maui Gallery.
