Here’s a serene shot from the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary on the BC coast, taken as we slowly followed a bear along the river and out on to the estuary. The bear was calm and knew we were there and allowed us to follow without worry. Off in the distance on the opposite side, you can see another bear feeding quietly. Hanging from the trees is the lichen ‘Old Man’s Beard’ – a key indicator of how good the air quality is in that part of the coast. And way beyond the foreground trees you can see the steep incline of the mountain on the SE side of the estuary.
