The odd, but at the same time, spectacular looking Hadada Ibis (Bostrychia hagedaash) is a fairly large ground foraging bird found across sub-Saharan Africa. When foraging they have glands at the tip of their bill to help find small insects and invertebrates that are their primary food source, but they will gladly accept the odd snail, spider or lizard should one happen along. Come nesting time, which coincides with the rainy season, the mating pair (they mate for life) will build a bowl shaped nest on a platform of branches and sticks (see below) for their clutch of 4 or 5 eggs which they will both take care of right up until the chicks fledge a couple of months later.
