Butter and Eggs is a well used name in North America for this plant – the Common Toadflax (Linaria vulgaris), also known as Yellow Toadflax. A perennial herbaceous plant species of Europe and Asia, but following its introduction around the start of the last century to ornamental gardens across Canada and North America it is now rife and considered an invasive species. It can often be found growing wild in clearings such as meadows, roadsides and fields where, as well as looking pretty, it is great for attracting bees, but beware, it is also considered mildly poisonous to animal livestock and pets if ingested.
