Stories of creatures and beasts emerging from the fog and mist seem to abound in folklore and legend since the beginning of time. It is a strong combination that is rife throughout literature not least in many a tale about the infamous Sherlock Holmes created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or the tourist teasing stories from Scotland of the Loch Ness Monster. These are stories that play strong to a keen imagination and our ‘natural art’ is no stranger to such imaginings. Here we see a bark scaled beast pushing on its front legs and rising from the waters of a BC inlet using the dense fog to mask its arrival.
