This black bear shot is from a while back now. It was never published here on the blog and I’d forgotten all about it until I reopened the file recently and saw the series of shots from that day. I had been working on a video project in the Great Bear Rainforest and was heading along a trail back to the boat having set up a remote camera on the river nearby. This black bear happened up from the river and set off along the trail ahead of me. This was the moment he turned and realised I was on the trail too – he cast me this glance and then continued on his way down the trail. On this occasion I didn’t mind him ‘pushing in’ and was happy to let him take point!
