We’ve seen this spirit bear mom (and her black cub) on a few occasions since I took this series of shots in the Great Bear Rainforest back in 2011. This image never got selected or edited at the time, but when I looked back through the images from that day recently, this one jumped out at me because of the composition and texture of the rootball she’s walking past. Of course, I never spotted it at the time, I was too busy concentrating on the bear and her cub, but what an interesting feature to add to the story of the photograph.
