As a wildlife photographer an added bonus is watching my subjects acting naturally in their natural environment and watching this guy with his lunch was a special treat. Often sea otters will surface from the seabed with a rock and a sea urchin or clam in their grasps. They will then rest the rock on their stomachs and break open the shells of their intended meal on the rock. But on this occasion, this otter surfaced with two fairly large clams and replaced the rock chopping board with the larger of the two clams and used this as the anvil to break open the other. As you can see it proved to be highly effective and he got to enjoy a tasty morsel for his lunch.
