It’s been a while since we featured a bald eagle, but this shot stood out recently and with the autumnal weather (rain) we’re now seeing it seemed quite appropriate. I just love the ‘fresh out the shower’ look of this bedraggled bird. The rain doesn’t seem to bother them too much and in most cases they do of course just shake the water off, but when out on the ocean or a lake fishing they can get weighted down and become waterlogged and eventually drown. But, as we’ve seen before, some bald eagles have developed the ability to swim (swimming eagle) using their wings and if they are not too far from shore this highly developed skill can save their lives.
