Post Hibernation – Still Looking Good

Early Spring and the large male grizzly bears are often amongst the first to start making their way down off the mountains to the coast. Once the females start to arrive and the serious business of mating takes over, they spend little time eating – so this is a chance to grab a few morsels before hand. This large guy, photographed in early May, is looking in really good shape. And, this is him after five or six months of living solely off his body fat, just imagine the size he must have been when he went in to hibernation!
