Whenever I’m fortunate enough to see one of the 87 plus varieties of dragonfly found here in BC, I find myself having to stop and try to photograph it. I don’t know why, they just seem and a little mysterious and wondrous. I’ve featured the male Blue Eyed Darner a few times here on the blog before and this is the female of the species – they don’t have the blue body seen on the male. Photographed earlier this summer, this dragonfly, as I’ve seen them do before, (see Poised for Takeoff) was just sitting and waiting on a dead rose in the garden – having a little rest or maybe hoping an unsuspecting insect would land close by.
