Today’s Friday Flashback is from January 27th 2014 and is entitled ‘Young Marten‘ – a young pink salmon pirate making away with some tasty tidbits!
Original Text – “Here is a shot of a young American Marten, or Pine Marten is another name they go by, seen here on a river in the Great Bear Rainforest on the BC coast. The young guy is keeping a close eye on us as he attempts to make away with a scrap piece of pink salmon left behind by a black bear that had just been feeding close by. Although a lover of fish when they can get them, marten will take the opportunity to eat other things such as small rodents, birds eggs and chicks and even berries and insects too. On such a varied diet they can grow to a little over half a metre and can weigh in at a hefty 1kg or so when fully grown.“
