A Lily For You!

The Chocolate Lily (Fritillaria lanceolata) – a coastal plant found on both sides of the Pacific. It loves the moist tidal zones, lowland meadows and sub-alpine forest clearings, but is rarely seen inland. I always find myself looking out for these ‘little beauties’ whenever I’m in a coastal inlet in late spring and as I’ve mentioned before, see (Chocolate Lily) the bulbs of this plant are a firm favourite with coastal bears. Nice to look at in the outdoors, but you wouldn’t want to pick them to show in your house though – despite their appealing name they are not very aromatic, in fact they have a pretty ripe aroma… phew!
