Sadly I haven’t managed to get out and see any orca here on the BC coast this year, although I did have a great day out with some breaching humpbacks back in July. This is a shot of a female transient (Biggs) orca known as T060 that I was able to get a few brief shots of during a choppy day out on the water last year. Believed to have been born in the late seventies, she is the matriarch of a pod known as the T060’s and we have featured her oldest known surviving son, born in 2001 – T060C here before. She also has three other surviving offspring, 2 males T060D and T060E along with a female T060F.
