Here’s a favourite mum and cub that we’ve seen a number of times here on the blog. Today they are having one of their favourite springtime meals – butter clams out on the mud flats at low tide in the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary. As you can see, they would quite often have visitors to accompany their meals, often in the form of these northwestern crows. If the crows dared to venture too close the cub would have great fun chasing them away – he wasn’t sharing any of his clams with the ever hopeful birds. As for mum, she new they weren’t worth the time of day and just kept sniffing at the mud and digging out the clams.
