This little guy was on the look out for a tasty morsel in the low-tide shallows along the edge of an inlet here on the BC coast. Many people I speak with tell me how they never realised that mink would eat crabs. I have often seen mink along the shore make their way down amongst the rocks (carefully, in case an eagle might see them), reach the water and dive in. A short while later up they pop with a fairly large (in comparison to the mink) Dungeness crab in their mouths. Once back at the surface they quickly scurry away (below) and head for protective cover to sit and enjoy their fresh caught meal.
