If you’re a dog lover or dog owner like me, you’ll recognize this pose and can probably understand just how tempting this was to pop over and give his belly a big rub! Those that claim to be in the know in the doggy world, say that when a dog does this, that it is a sign of trust and relaxation in your presence. Is it the same with grizzly bears? We like to think so – but I still wasn’t going over to rub his belly though. But this whole sequence of shots do show this bear’s trust and acceptance of us. When we first came across him, he was lying on his side, he looked up to see who was coming, then just rolled on his back like this. After a minute or two he had a good stretch on his back and rolled over on to his side again, to carry on sleeping.
