Wolves throughout BC are constantly being victimized and slaughtered and the BC government just turns a blind eye to it – time and time again. (See this ‘Infographic‘). I’m quite surprised that this government is so uncaring about wildlife in BC given all the hype and promise they gave prior to being elected and especially seeing as the so called ‘Green’ party of BC are supposed to be on board with them!
Over on the mainland there is a problem with the woodland and mountain caribou populations, which none of us want to see disappear. The government, mis-lead by some single minded so called biologists that have probably forgotten why they became biologists in the first place, are blaming it all on wolves and totally ignoring the fact that the habitat the caribou need to live in and survive is disappearing at an extortionate rate as the government continues to issue cutting permit after cutting permit and winter play ground permits willy-nilly. So to stop the wolves, the government wastes away tax payers dollars by the millions and are murdering the wolves at a rate in some regions of 80 percent of the population. Help Pacific Wild keep this at the top of government agendas and help the fight to get these practices stopped – if nothing else to save our tax dollars!
Our friends at @pacificwild have been rallying international forces in opposition to the unethical, unscientific and ecologically indefensible wolf kill program in British Columbia, Canada. This work is extremely timely. More than 700 wolves have been killed by the B.C. government in a misguided attempt to protect endangered southern mountain caribou. The B.C. government intends to expand the wolf cull in the coming months, targeting 80% of interior wolf populations in some areas. Industry practices and habitat destruction are causing the decline in caribou populations NOT wolves.
