Biggs Killer Whale – T075A

I finally managed to get out on the water last week and bumped straight in to a pod of Biggs Killer Whales (Orca) known as the T75’s. This particular pod, now numbering six orca, are named after T075 the matriarch of the family group and seen her is her oldest son T075A. Over recent years transient orca have been re-named (by some at least) as ‘Biggs’ killer whales in honour of Michael Biggs (1939 – 1990) who studied the orca species here off the BC coast, learnt so much about them and shared his findings with the world – a groundwork that led to so much of our understanding of these fascinating animals today.
