Well with fall approaching pretty fast now, it is a good time to head out in to the forest and have a search round for some fungi. Personally I leave them all alone as I do not profess to know what is safe to eat and what is not, but I do enjoy photographing them and I am surprised at times by their size (or lack of it in some cases), shapes and patterns. Here’s one I found in a local forest here on Vancouver Island, but it is found in coniferous forests and clearings throughout BC – the Lilac Bonnet (aka: Lilac Bellcap) mushroom (Mycena pura), enjoy looking at it, but do not touch and it should never be eaten as it does contain a small amount of poison.
