Here’s Junior sitting, relaxing in the rain right at the start of the season in the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary back in early May. Junior is the son of the matriarch bear – Big Momma and he was born in 2013 and weaned in 2015 (see Chocolate Grizz). Since then he has become quite a character around the inlet and regularly shows up reeking havoc around where his mum raised him and where she is now raising a female cub. He has done well during the season and was feeding well on salmon when I last saw him in early September (below). Hopefully he should do well through the winter and will be back again next spring, a year older and probably a little less playful than this year.
