A mother grizzly bear grabs her cubs as if to say ‘let’s go kids’ and heads away from a river when she becomes spooked by an emerging bear from the forest on the opposite bank (See also Which Way Now?). Trouble was, as you can see, the trio were actually heading in our direction (see also Queen of Pack Creek). I just kept firing the shutter and she finally stopped about 9 or 10 metres away, before diverting off to her right and down in to a small lagoon behind us (see also On Guard!). As it turned out the bear that came out of the forest on that occasion was one of her previous cubs, but nevertheless, she didn’t know that and took the relevant precautions to protect her new pair of cubs just in case.
