Just got back last night from my first field trip of the season – a brief three days back in the Khutzeymateen. Although it’s still only May, lots of bears were out and about, a few moms had already weaned their juvenile cubs and love was definitely in the air. This young female left her mum this time last year and it was great to see her doing so well and I briefly spotted her sibling sister also whilst I was there. Hopefully in three or four weeks time, once the mating season is over her mum, the Queen of the Khutzeymateen, will return with new cubs of the year for us all to see, but that’s for my next visit! Much more to follow from the Khutz, as well as a special surprise that I was very lucky to see.
