Here is an action shot of a wolf pup catching a salmon. This little guy was probably around 18 months old and was out on the river with two adults. He was very inquisitive to start with and could clearly smell our scent as he spent the first five minutes or so sniffing in our general direction. Wolves will often smell the surface of the water and track a salmon for a few paces before striking to get their catch, but in this instance, you can see this youngster had his pick of the bunch as he found himself in amongst a group of pink salmon hiding in the shadows of the bushes. His juvenile features and fishing success can be seen below.
