Snow Goose

Here is a shot of a Snow Goose (Chen caerulescens). I don’t know why, but  I always feel it’s very special to see one of these geese, I guess it’s because we don’t see them very often.  Here on the BC coast, these large white birds are migrants and ‘pass through’ around November and April time heading from or to their Arctic nesting sites.  Adults have pink legs and black wing tips whilst juveniles remain dark, including the legs until adult hood.  Some will over winter in SW British Columbia around the Fraser Valley marshes and now with the arrival of April, hopefully one or two can be spotted as they make their way north.
