Here’s a shot I felt privileged to be able to get and shows the trust this mother bear has in us and in our presence. It shows the ‘Queen of the Khutzeymateen’ and her latest set of cubs stopping for a spot of additional lunch on the mud exposed by the low tide. Mum had been out teaching the cubs how to dig for clams, but I guess the clams weren’t filling enough for them as they harangued mum until she finally gave in and lay down for them to nurse. They didn’t feed for long and in just a few minutes they were all up and getting very muddy digging for clams again.
