Here on the BC coast a lot of people are reporting seeing black bears in their yards and gardens at this time of year – often they’re in search of fruit fallen from trees. This is a shot from earlier this year, when I came across this adult black bear as it was feasting on grass on a small beachside knoll. But by July, grass has lost a lot of it’s nutritional value for bears so they eat less of it and if old fruit is collected and removed from trees and when fallen in gardens, bears will eat less of it too!
